John Piper’s Mixed Media Approach – A Practical Workshop With Tutor Jan McGranaghan

To coincide with the special display of John Piper’s iconic paintings of the ruins of Coventry Cathedral this one day practical course will explore some of the techniques employed by the artist. In particular the course will cover the use of traditional wax resist techniques, paint and ink washes and pen and ink work as well as exploring the use of contemporary media.

There will be practical demonstrations of all the relevant media and techniques then students will be able to work either from photographs of the cathedral or student’s personal resources to produce their own work. All media, equipment and resources will be provided although students are welcome to bring their own materials and resources.
