Black Shuck
Martin Newell is well known as a versatile musician and poet with a number of poetry collections to his name. Three of these have been set to music composed by The Hosepipe Band, an accomplished five piece from the Essex Suffolk borders.
Martin and the band will do a special seasonal performance of Black Shuck – the legend of the ghostly dog which has haunted East Anglia since Viking times, as well as The Green Children – the story of two children "of unusual skin colour" who appeared in the Suffolk village of Woolpit in the 12th century. This programme will be augmented by a sprinkling of seasonal poems, songs and tunes.
