Propaganda From The Pulpit And Newspapers

Professor Willy Maley from University of Glasgow will deliver a our annual lecture on whether we see the 1930s conflict in Spain as a civil war, a colonial war, or a revolution, the politics and religion of the period are intimately intertwined.

In light of recent research this lecture will re-examine the role of religion in the war, partly reflecting on notions such as 'propaganda from the pulpit and newspapers', a well known line contained in Christy Moore's song, 'Viva la Quinta Brigada'.
