Katherine Swynford, who was mistress and wife of John of Gaunt, son of King Edward III.
The love story of Katherine and John in and around the mid to late 14th century is one of the most powerful and enduring in English history. Their descendants have been Kings and Queens of Scotland and England, from the Mid 15th century to our own Queen. This is a romantic tale of knights in shining armour, beautiful ladies and most of all - romance.
