Nutshell Nutcracker

Theatre Shop in Clevedon is a performance space and bar located in an empty high street retail unit that once upon a time sold books and puzzles to boys and girls. This Christmas a long lost sense of story and wonder is reawakened in the space as Nutshell Nutcracker pirouettes through the shop doors and takes its place centre stage.

This magical and darkly enchanting new version of the ultimate Yuletide tale weaves together story, dance and music to cast a festive spell in intimate surroundings. Toys come to life, evil mice declare battle and what adult or child can resist a sleigh ride to the land of sweets?

Written and directed by acclaimed theatre-maker Toby Hulse, and choreographed by Sara Matthews (ex Rambert) and Christopher Marney (Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, and choreographer of ‘McQueen’ - West End), this miniature production is guaranteed to be a perfectly formed stocking filler for everyone’s Christmas list.

Performed by two Ballet Central dancers, and two actors (Hannah Lee, and Jimmy Whiteaker) to a brand new reimagining of Tchaikovsky’s classic score by Jez Butler. And with costumes from Gerald Scarfe in the mix, there could be a few surprises in this particular store...!
