This famous String Quartet comes to the Oxshott and Cobham Music Society for the first time, bringing a programme of Czech and Russian favourites, which run the gamut of emotions.
Smetana: no.2. with its folk tunes and interesting rhythmic motifs.
Borodin:.no.2, is the centre piece with so many of the melodies for which he became famous. We have all heard the beautiful Notturno, which was
later used in the Broadway show 'Kismet' and finally,
Dvorak: no.9, Op 34: Written in a minor key, this was composed in 1877 following the deaths of two of his children in the space of one month.
