What Would Jane Say?
This new play by Peter John Cooper takes a wry look at what one of Britain’s most celebrated authours would have to say about all night parties, dancing the night away, hangovers, celebrities, shopping, internet dating and Facebook?
The play stars Trisha Lewis as Jane Austen herself and utilizes Jane’s own words from her novels and letters. What on earth would the daughter of a country vicar, who lived between 1775 – 1817 and was hamstrung by the rigid social conventions of the day, know about such things.
What would Jane Austen, author of Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey and of course Pride and Prejudice foretell about our crazy rip-roaring world two hundred years later? Yet here in her own words are comments that smash through our ideas of what Jane thought and wrote about.
Hear what she (nearly) says about the Internet, smart phones and email and what she (almost) says about playing the ukulele and getting washing machines to work.
"What Would Jane Say?" - is the latest hilarious collaboration between popular Bournemouth based actor Trisha Lewis and acclaimed playwright Peter John Cooper.
This extraordinary one woman tour de force will make you rush to read Jane's novels anew. And if you couldn't find the time to read Austen before, you will after this.
