Cheryl Blackmore-Wells: Acrylics & Mixed Media

The next Art Exhibition at the Regent in Christchurch will feature the work of Cheryl Blackmore-Wells. Cheryl lives in Christchurch with her husband, 2 daughters, son, 3 cats and 2 dogs and has always loved painting since the age of 12. She fondly remembers drawing Disney Characters and the cartoon Beau Peep, which one of her Uncles used to read to her.

Her passion for art continued through her Secondary School Education with GCSE Art at Twynham School, where she and her fellow school friends won a collage competition for 'Christchurch in Bloom' in 1990. Meeting the Mayor and attending a special award ceremony in The Mayor’s Parlour is still something that Cheryl is very proud to have achieved. Cheryl and her fellow award winning artists actually had their picture taken by the Echo on the roof of the Regent!

After school, although her artistic side took a break for a career and motherhood, she was very pleased to find time to start painting again. In her paintings, Cheryl loves bold colours, especially using acrylic paints on canvas. She also uses mixed media and adds a unique touch to her animal portraits by adding a little twist! This can be seen in her portraits of dogs in the exhibition.

Cheryl will have 36 examples of her work on display at the Regent in Christchurch from 23 January – 12 February.
