A fantastic double bill from two of the most exciting groups from the 1960s that will be taking place in Highcliffe on Friday 28th February in aid of Variety Wessex charity.

Founding members Tony Crane MBE and Billy Kingsley will be bringing their group The Merseybeats back to Dorset and were due to play last year but were both ill just before the sold-out gig took place. Next month they team up with one of the hottest bands on the circuit - The New Amen Corner in a fantastic double bill. Hits like 'I Think Of You','It's Love That Really Counts','Don't Turn Around', 'Wishin' and Hoping' and 'Sorrow' (the latter went on to be a big hit for David Bowie which they recorded under the name The Merseys). The group appeared with The Beatles at the Cavern more times than any other band.

Originally led by Andy Fairweather-Low, the Welsh band had million-seller hits like 'Gin House', 'Bend Me Shape Me', 'If Paradise (is half as Nice)', 'High in the Sky' & 'Hello Suzie' they soon became a household name in the late sixties. Today, their lead singer Glen Leon provides the perfect powerhouse vocals to bring these great tunes back to their fans - both young and old.'
