Chorley Amateur Dramatic & Operatic Society (CADOS) present a poignant "what if?" comic play. Celebrating the 80th Birthday of one of Britains most popular and prolific playwrights, Alan Ayckbourn.
This dark comedy revolves around Susan as she goes deeper and deeper into a fantasy world she has created for herself. In her normal life, she is a vicar’s wife starved of affection by a boring husband and their estranged son. But after being knocked unconscious by a rake in the garden she finds herself living an idyllic life.
Free to wander the vast lands of her stately home, and spend time with her perfect husband and children she spends more and more time in the imaginary world. But gradually the walls break down and she loses control over what is fantasy and what is reality. The line between fantasy and reality starts to blur… with some surprising results.
Described as a dazzling and provocative Lewis Carroll-style story for adults, this is uniquely Ayckbourn: with playful use of language, compelling dialogue, much hilarity, and a remarkable exploration of the mind.
