Pablo Picasso (1881 to 1973) told his biographer John Richardson that his work was like a diary – ‘to understand it, you have to see how it mirrors my life.’

A deeply personal response to each new love in his life, as well as world events, can be seen in the different styles in which he worked. This study session will show how Picasso’s life, and especially his emotional life, influenced what he painted and how he painted it.
