Chepstow Racecourse is proud to present an evening with Jools Holland on Friday 13th June.
The spectacular musician brings his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra plus Marc Almond and Melanie C for a one-off show at Wales’ premier sporting venue.
The night will start with seven thrilling high quality flat races before Jools, whose career has spanned four decades since being the founder member of the band Squeeze in the seventies, takes to the stage.
One of the eighties’ biggest stars Marc Almond, who had a number one ‘Tainted Love’ with the band Soft Cell, joins former Spice Girl Melanie C as Jools’ guests on the night. She herself has more than 3 million album sales and secured two number one singles. The concert also features Jools’ vocalist Ruby Turner.
It’s an evening of music not to miss, plus there are seven live races for you to enjoy!
Former Squeeze ivory-tickler and presenter of the legendary Later with Jools Holland. Since learning to play fluently at the tender age of eight, Jools has gone on to become one of the UK's most proficient jazz and blues pianists. Having toured extensively with his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, his charismatic personality, impeccably good taste and accessible music have made him one of the nations most well-respected, and well-loved, musicians. Jools was awarded an OBE in 2003 for his services to the British music industry. He is married with four children and lives in a world of his own.

Gilson Lavis was the drummer for Squeeze from 1976 until 1992. He has also been a part of Jools Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra for many years.

Ruby Turner is renowned for hits such as 'If You're Ready (Come Go With Me)', 'I'd Rather Go Blind' and the No 1 hit single in the US R'n'B chart 'Its Gonna Be Alright'. To date, she has released eight albums, and guested on releases for the likes of Brian Ferry, UB40, Steve Winwood and Jools Holland. This amazing singer/songwriter is blessed with a voice to die for and whether performing jazz, soul or r'n'b. In addition to her solo singing career, Ruby is an accomplished actress on TV, film, and West End stage.

The former Soft Cell frontman is also well established as an internationally acclaimed and successful solo artist. He has sold over 30 million records worldwide and is an icon and influence to a generation of musicians.

Born in Liverpool, Melanie Chisholm hit the public eye as Mel C - one fifth of girl power supergroup Spice Girl. When the girls went their own way, Sporty Spice became Melanie C: Indie Rocker with her top selling album 'Northern Star'. Since going solo back in 1999, Melanie has enjoyed 2 number 1 singles, 6 Top 10 singles and over 3 million album sales.
Over the past few years she has gone on the road with The Spice Girls for their acclaimed Reunion Tour, given birth to daughter Scarlet and made her theatrical debut, playing the part of Mrs Johnstone in West End hit Blood Brothers, for which she received an Olivier nomination for 'Best Actress in a Musical' and was shortlisted in the London Evening Standard Theatre awards in Milton Shulman's 'Outstanding Newcomer' category.
