Prelude was formed by Brian Hume and fellow guitarist/vocalist Ian Vardy in 1970. Irene Hume joined them in 1971 and under the name of Trilogy, started to play local folk clubs in the Newcastle area. Changing the band name to Prelude in 1972, their first single 'Out There' was released in September 1973, but was issued as a trailer for the debut Prelude album 'How Long Is Forever'.

Prelude was heavily influenced on both a musical and lyrical level by American soft rock acts like Simon and Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, Crosby Stills Nash and Young. The stand-out track of the album was an adaptation of 'After The Goldrush'. 'After The Goldrush' was duly issued as a single in November 1973. Prelude have toured worldwide, releasing singles and albums along the way. In 2011 Prelude recorded a brand new set of songs The Belle Vue Sessions with the help of Steve Cunningham (Lindisfarne) on bass and accordion, and Paul Hoope (The Fortunes) on drums.

Car park and bar available.
