When ex-tennis pro Tony Wendice finds out that his wife Sheila is having an affair, he embarks on an elaborate plot to commit the perfect murder. Blackmail and old school ties combine in his cunning scheme. Yet even the most perfect plans can go wrong. He tries to cover his tracks, but Inspector Hubbard is in dogged pursuit of the truth.
