Mae gweithdy blasu ar gamelan Neuadd Dewi Sant yn cyflwyno cerddoriaeth Java i fyfyrwyr. Mae pob offeryn cymhleth sydd yn Neuadd Dewi Sant wedi ei wneud o efydd, gyda cherfiadau pren traddodiadol wedi eu gorffen â llaw. Mae’r set gamelan yn cynnwys offerynnau taro, drymiau a gongiau. Mae’r offerynnau eu hunain yn cyfleu syniad o’r diwylliant ac mae’r synau a’r gerddoriaeth yn hollol fywiocaol – sy’n anrheg addysgiadol.
Mae gamelan yn brofiad hwyliog ac ysgogol sydd â rôl bwysig i’w chwarae ar bob lefel mewn addysg gerddoriaeth. Mae ein sesiynau gamelan yn trafod llawer o gysyniadau yn y cwricwlwm cerddoriaeth ar gyfer cyfnodau allweddol 1, 2 a 3 gan gynnwys cysylltiadau â’r Fframwaith Rhifedd a Llythrennedd. Yn ogystal â chynnig 'cerddoriaeth o ddiwylliannau eraill', gall gamelan hefyd gyfrannu at addysgu cerddoriaeth mewn ffyrdd eraill sy’n cynnig cyfle i ddefnyddio synau newydd ac ymateb i gerddoriaeth yn unigol ac fel dosbarth.
Mae gweithdai gamelan Neuadd Dewi Sant wedi eu canmol gan Viv John, Ysgol Addysg Caerdydd, UWIC: “Roedd hi’n dda gallu chwarae offerynnau go iawn ac mi dderbyniodd y myfyrwyr sylfaen dda yn yr arddull yn ogystal â syniadau defnyddiol yngl?n â sut i’w roi ar waith yn y dosbarth.”
Mae’r myfyrwyr yn cymryd rhan greadigol trwy gydol y sesiwn, sy’n datblygu eu sgiliau gwrando, eu hyblygrwydd a’u sgiliau gwneud cerddoriaeth mewn gr?p. Mae hyn yn ei dro yn gwella sgiliau datrys problemau, cyfathrebu a hunanhyder. Ac mae'r rhain i gyd yn werthfawr o ran datblygiad personol ac academaidd. Mae gamelan yn gyfle i addysgu myfyrwyr mewn amgylchedd dymunol a hamddenol. Does dim angen profiad i gymryd rhan yn y gweithdy unigryw hwn. Bydd cerddor gamelan profiadol yn arwain y gr?p, ac mae'n werthfawr nid yn unig i'r myfyrwyr ond i'r athrawon hefyd.
Mae sesiwn 2 awr arferol yn costio £95.00 am hyd at 20 o ddisgyblion. Fodd bynnag gellir teilwra sesiynau i grwpiau o hyd at 30 o ddisgyblion. Sylwer: gall sesiynau wedi eu teilwra i dros 20 disgybl gostio mwy. Cyfeiriwch at yr wybodaeth am docynnau i gael mwy o fanylion.

A taster workshop on the St David’s Hall gamelan introduces students to the music of Java. Each elaborate instrument based in St David’s Hall is made from bronze, with traditional hand finished woodcarvings. The gamelan set consists of tuned percussion, drums and gongs. The instruments alone convey a sense of the culture and the sounds and music are simply exhilarating – an educational treat.
Gamelan is a fun; stimulating experience with an important role to play in music education at all levels. Our gamelan sessions address many of the concepts in the music curriculum for key stage 1, 2 and 3 including links to the numeracy and literature framework. Gamelan not only delivers ‘music of other cultures’ effectively, but can also contribute to music teaching in other ways giving the opportunity to use new sounds and respond to music individually and as a class.
St David’s Hall Schools Gamelan workshops have been praised by Viv John, Cardiff School of Education, UWIC. “It was great to be able to play authentic instruments and the students were given a good grounding in the style as well as useful ideas on how to implement it in a classroom”.
The students are actively and creatively involved throughout the session which develops their listening skills, flexibility and group music making. This in turn enhances problem solving, communication, and self-confidence. All of which are valuable in personal and academic development. Gamelan provides a chance to educate students in an enjoyable and relaxed environment. No experience is needed to take part in this unique workshop. The group will be lead by an experienced Gamelan musician and is valuable not only for the students but teachers too.
A standard two-hour session costs £95.00 for up to 20 pupils. However, tailored sessions can be offered for groups of up to 30 pupils. Please note, tailored sessions for over 20 pupils may cost more. Please see ticketing for more information
