About the show

Down in the dark ocean, old Mam y Môr gathers her tools.

Her carders. Her spindle. Her loom.

Her granddaughters will join her soon and there are many songs still to be sung and much cloth yet to weave.

In the Ragged Storytelling Collective's new show, Ailsa, Heulwen and Kestrel weave harmonium and cello drones with story, poetry, puppetry and song; spinning a 450 million year-long thread reaching from the deep waters of geological mountain time, through the mythic realms of river time and into the polluted waters of human time. A vivid tapestry of haunting harmonies and poetic eloquence where science and myth are interwoven and both beauty and grit combine in a swelling storm of emotion.

A folk-ritual dive into myth, magic and history, with grief, anger, love and reverence for the waters and rivers that bring us life.

The rivers are singing; can you hear them?

Our evening will open with 'Misfortune', a Sicilian story told by Helen Wales that celebrates rivers, washerwomen and unexpected journeys and encounters.
