Polyphony
Cardiff Polyphonic Choir celebrate the joy and complexity of polyphony in classical music, taking a tour right through its history.
From Josquin des Prez’s groundbreaking music of the 15th Century Franco-Flemish school, which laid the foundations of almost all choral music to follow, through to the peak of Mahler’s extraordinary early-20th Century orchestral counterpoint, here transcribed for voices by Clytus Gottwald.
Touchstones on the way will be works by Palestrina, J.S. Bach, Byrd, Brahms, Purcell, Bruckner and Rheinberger.
