Gwdihw Presents

At age 5, Sarah Jane Scouten was sitting on the dining room table, singing “Lace and Pretty Flowers,” by Canadian folk musician, Willie P. Bennett. Hank Williams and Stan Rogers were her greatest inspirations, both a staple at Sunday morning pancake breakfast and afterward, singing bluegrass and gospel music with her father.

Fast forward to the present day, and Sarah is an artist of international renown, having led her brilliant string band in Montreal, recalling Lucinda Williams, DeMent & more whilst incorporating the many roots of roots music - from Western-Swing, Cajun, honky-tonk & Appalachian string music - all with that same instinctual, childlike appreciation for Folk music's power.

Making tender, heart-grabbing songs which pull you in without empty nostalgia, brilliant new LP 'The Cape' even manages to mention Dylan Thomas. We can't wait to hear the Canadian Folk Music Prize nominated album and more on a very rare UK date.

Supports to follow.
