Woven Skull

In the middle of Ireland is a huge bog. In the middle of that bog is a forest. In the middle of that forest is a small cottage filled with books on science-fiction, horror, surrealism and all manner of obscure subjects. In the middle of that cottage lives the three-headed, twelve-limbed hippy war machine of Woven Skull.

For nearly a decade, this crew of hairy occult jammers have been documenting their activities through numerous cassette releases and free festival performances across Europe. Dischordant de-tuned folk instrumentation and ritualistic performance that calls to mind the Third Ear Band is delivered with the primitive monochordal thud of the Velvet Underground.

Their raw feral sound, combined with an immersion in a sense of place represented by the woods, hills and abandoned houses of their native Leitrim, aligns them more closely with the esoteric strands of underground Black Metal than with any contemporary psych-folk.
