Mozart’s Serenade in D is full of delightful twists and turns, and a false ending or two that will keep you on your toes... The orchestra teases out all the quick-witted charm and lyrical energy of Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 1 in C and the evening is rounded off with Tchaikovsky’s tender and heartfelt Serenade for Strings, written in homage to Mozart, whom the Russian composer idolised.
