The Countrymen

The Countrymen are a six piece Cornish folk group based in Launceston. They perform songs about Cornwall – its heritage as a mining and fishing community and what it’s like to live there now. The songs are usually in close, four-part harmony with guitars and bass in support, but the accent is on fun and celebrating Cornwall. They favour more modern contemporary songs as well as some original material written by the band. There are also some pop classics thrown in to up the tempo.

This gives the performance a fresh and lively feel, as seen at Newlyn Fish Festival, Falmouth Shanty Festival, Boscastle Music Festival and The World Pasty Championships at The Eden Project, as well as an appearance on the BBC Radio Cornwall stage at the 2017 Royal Cornwall Show.

On tour promoting their latest album, this will be a great start to a new Gallery Bar Special season at Calstock Arts.
