IMS Prussia Cove, Take Five

Five top class professional musicians perform a varied programme of music for violin, viola cello and double bass, presented in an accessible, informative and compelling way.

For over forty years musicians from across the world have been drawn to Prussia Cove near Penzance, to share their passion for chamber music – ‘the music of friends’. In musician circles the IMS name is associated with top quality chamber music performance, attracting both seasoned professionals and outstandingly gifted young players.

Take Five performers include violinist Lesley Hatfield, leader of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and one of Britain’s most respected violinists; viola player Tim Boulton, whose career in chamber music has spanned three decades; and young Cornish double bassist Ted Francis-Smith, who at just 19 years old is one of Britain’s youngest internationally touring musicians.

The first part of the concert features music for various combinations of string instruments from across Europe over the last 300 years, followed by Dvorak’s joyful String Quintet op.77 in G major.
