Craig Ogden is making a very welcome return to Calstock Arts as “one of the finest players of classical guitar of his generation”. His previous performances here are still talked about some years later. He has a substantial world-wide reputation, having performed in Europe, The States, Asia & Australia in recital, on radio and on television.
His recordings receive fulsome praise as do his concerts including as a soloist and in chamber ensembles through to performances with some of the best orchestras in some of the best venues in the world. His debut solo CD for Nimbus Records of 20th Century Classics by British composers was nominated for a Grammy Award. Craig’s recording of the Rodrigo guitar concertos with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra was selected as ‘The One To Own’ in Classic FM magazine against distinguished competition including John Williams and Julian Bream.
Collaborations have included playing with the Nash Ensemble, John Williams, the London Tango Quintet, Jacqui Dankworth and many others. Several pieces have been written especially for him. He has teaching commitments in a number of places and is also a director of festivals. This is a musician in great demand. We are lucky to have him here. This is an unmissable event for lovers of classical guitar and music.
