Friday lunchtime recitals by students from Manchester's internationally renowned Royal Northern College of Music.

The Carnelian Saxophone Quartet is a dynamic ensemble based in the North of England. They play a diverse repertoire ranging from classical music to folk and pop music.

The group formed in September 2015 when they all met at the Royal Northern College of Music, and since this time they have performed at an extensive and diverse range of concerts and events. They have collaborated with other musicians, particularly percussion, and have developed their own unique sound.

The quartet has performed at many venues in Manchester and further afield. Amongst these performances were the New Music North West Festival, the annual ABRSM conference in London, outreach and a concert with the Derbyshire Youth Wind Band Sax Orchestra, a recital at Manchester Cathedral and more recently their Global Folk Spotlight concert at the RNCM. They reached the finals of the Trevor Wye Prize for Woodwind Chamber Music in June 2016 and have recorded Glint by Melissa Douglas which was written for the quartet.

They are planning a tour in Jersey later this year where they will be performing at various events and outreach programs.

Carnelian Saxophone Quartet appears by kind permission of the RNCM.
