In the 1920s-era African-American slang coined the phrase Chick, or hen to refer to a woman.

In a landscape of Afro-Latin and Hip Hop, four females cluck, fight & undress our preconceptions of what it is to be ‘Ladylike’. Each explores their personal experiences in a celebration of wonderful women of the world and a provocative protest at gender roles, the masks we wear, sexual violence and sexism.
