Trio Mediaeval, Arve Henriksen

Warning: Seriously sublime music. Founded in Oslo in 1997, Trio Mediaeval is one of the world’s leading early music vocal ensembles whose albums on the ECM label have regularly topped classical charts and critics’ polls, earning a Grammy nomination in 2007 for ‘Folk Songs’.  

But while they have earned their reputation specialising in medieval sacred music, Trio Mediaeval also collaborate with contemporary composers and improvisers. Tonight’s performance reunites them with the presiding genius of Norwegian experimental music, Arve Henriksen, whose atmospheric trumpet playing, ethereal vocals and subtle electronic sound-sculpting have made him one of the most essential artists of our age, and a great St George’s favourite.
