Bungee The Boss
Bristol-based Penny Brohn UK has officially launched its new Bungee the Boss fundraiser – a 160ft jump at Bristol’s iconic Lloyds Amphitheatre on Friday, April 15. The charity chose bungee because the first modern one was off Brunel’s Clifton Suspension Bridge on April 1, 1979 – the same year charity co-founder Penny Brohn was diagnosed with breast cancer. Jumpers David Kirke and Simon Keeling were arrested shortly after, but continued to bungee off the Golden Gate and Royal Gorge bridges, spreading the concept worldwide.
The charity invites people to nominate their boss and raise £1,000, so they take the picturesque plunge. But scared superiors fret not because if you match-fund the figure, you can use your Bungee Bail and choose someone who fundraised to take your place. Bungee The Boss includes full health and safety team, refreshments and after party.
With over 35 years’ pioneering experience, Penny Brohn UK understands that the disease impacts every part of life and the number affected is increasing. It is the UK’s leading charity offering a Whole Person Approach – focused on the person and family’s mind, body, spirit and emotions, before, during and after treatment.
Penny Brohn offers free adult residential and day courses, one-to-one therapies, groups, a treatment support clinic and national helpline, covering aspects including diet, exercise and managing stress. The charity wants to reach as many people as possible, but relies on donations.
