Bristol Cider Sunday Returns: The Surfin Turnips
"We are delighted to announce the return of Cider Sunday in Bristol on October 26th.
This much loved Bristol institution has been sleeping in the orchard for a number of years now, and many cider and music lovers were clamouring for its return to the scene. Fuelled By Cider have been handed the baton by previous organiser Stuart Marshall (Orchard Inn) and the Exchange music venue will be stocking its bar with scrump and opening its doors to the great unwashed.
The formula is simple - 4 hours of a Sunday afternoon to sup hand picked local scrumps while listening to a quality band or two and chatting with like-minded folk. Simple pleasures to which everyone welcome.
The grand relaunch features those legendary Bristol scrumpy pumpers the Surfin' Turnips who graced the original Cider Sundays back in the day. Entry is a measly £3 and you can turn up 'n' sup from 1 - 5pm.
Info provided by the Event Organiser
The Surfin' Turnips are a West Country renaissance folk-punk group who aim to spread the Word Of The West to the lost souls in need of apple salvation. Specialising in scrumpy, sea songs and West Country pride songs, they have released three West Country LPs. The Surfin' Turnips consist of Jamer Turnip on guitars, Matt Pants on drums, Titch Wilson on bass and Ian O'Star on accordion. The band hail from Cornwall, Devon and Somerset; but have strong associations with the town of Chipping Sodbury where they met while working, and the areas around Bristol where they currently live.
