Affordable Art Fair - Bristol 2015

The Affordable Art Fair is a friendly and relaxed environment in which to browse, buy and enjoy the best contemporary art, from local galleries and further afield. You will be able to visit more than 50 galleries showcasing an exceptional range of contemporary paintings, prints, sculpture and photography, under one roof.

With paintings, original artist-made prints, sculpture and photography all on show, and everything for sale between £100 and £5,000, a day out at the fair is the easiest and most enjoyable way to view and buy art.

Bristol’s fourteenth fair will bring together more than 500 artists from galleries including local favourites Antlers, Bristol Contemporary Art and Clifton Fine Art. This is the first year the Affordable Art Fair has included galleries from outside the UK, with Irish galleries Sol Art and Green Gallery showcasing work by some of Ireland’s top contemporary artists.

The Affordable Art Fair is proud to be supporting the Royal West of England Academy – England’s only regional Royal Academy of Art – who will bring an exciting programme of workshops to this year’s fair. Visitors can get involved with the RWA Takeover of the Charity Private View, on Thursday 17 September, 5.30pm – 9.30pm, with a range of special activities on offer.

This year’s fair also introduces a Friday Late, where visitors can swing by until 8pm, to kick start their weekend with art and a complimentary drink. Alternatively, visitors can enjoy a culture fix with Art on Sunday sessions, including extra exclusive activities.

Local artist Max Naylor returns to the Affordable Art Fair Bristol with his beautiful ink drawings, depicting a mixture of real and imagined places. Max’s images use precisely placed lines to create detailed landscapes, engaging the viewer’s eye with a variety of colours and brushstrokes.

Also returning to the fair this year is local artist Andrew Hood, whose gestural paintings have a richness and depth which capture the energy and movement of his subject matter. There is an importance placed on mark-making within his work, making viewers focus on the surface of the painting.

With so many artworks under one roof to browse, love and take home, visitors will be spoilt for choice. Affordable Art Fair director Luci Noel has selected some of her favourite pieces that will be exhibited at the fair in September.

BBC Radio Bristol’s Steve Yabsley will open this year’s fair.
