Two students murder a fellow student as an expression of their intellectual superiority. They hide the body in a chest and proceed to host a party for his friends and family, at which the chest containing his corpse is used to serve a buffet. The play, later adapted by Alfred Hitchcock, is loosely based on a true murder case.
