Earsthetic

Earsthetic - Now in its third year, this mini-season gives you more than straightforward gigs or gallery installations. They go beyond to bring you boundary-breaking audio-visual works exactly as the artists imagined. Think immersion. Think beauty. And think sheer scale.

The brainchild of vocalist Elaine Mitchener, in collaboration with choreographer Dam Van Huynh; computer music pioneer George Lewis; and sound artist, writer and musician David Toop.

Wavering between observer and partaker, Mitchener draws on vocal improvisation, movement and sound to investigate our loss of privacy versus the strength of true intimacy in our search for centeredness.

A classically trained vocalist at home in jazz, gospel, free improvisation, experimental and contemporary music, Elaine Mitchener has worked with a wide range of artists, from classical composer Heiner Goebbels and electronic artists Goldie and Aphex Twin to theatre director Deborah Warner and visual artist Christian Marclay.
