In many ways Shakespeare’s timeless tale of 'star-crossed lovers' is a study of loss of innocence set in an era when a young girl of marriageable age, was expected to conform with her father’s wishes.
During the course of the play we see how love transforms an inexperienced, obedient girl into a spirited, vibrant young woman.
