A brief history of big band jazz: a sumptuous celebration of the 'real cool'.
Director Mike Daniels leads the supersized combined talent of an 'outstanding' (Wiltshire Times) big band and colourful dance band in a thrilling and enlightening journey through a century of jazz, music that evolved in a century of profound change. From its roots in ragtime and Dixieland, with its great innovators Armstrong, Ellington and Basie, to Mingus and Maria Schneider via be-bop, cool and jazz-rock fusion, this is a spirited afternoon concert to swing you into the solstice.
GBH Big Band
A seventeen piece big band which includes some of the finest jazz musicians from Bath and Bristol playing a mix of swing, soul, blues and funk.
