Kathryn Tickell – Northumbrian Voices
Few sounds are more beautiful and hauntingly evocative than the Northumbrian Pipes. In this magical show, foremost exponent Kathryn Tickell brings together three generations of musicians, including her father Mike Tickell, to share their music and collective stories. Deeply rooted in the landscape and culture of her native North Tyne Valley, it draws on interviews and recordings of her family and of the shepherd musicians from whom she learnt her craft, leading listeners on a moving, humbling and often hilarious journey.
