Panel Discussion: Muslims And Trust

Can Muslims be trusted? With every atrocity committed in the name of Islam around the world, this question grows louder.

Leading journalist Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, writer Hassan Mahamdallie and ex-Minister Baroness Sayeeda Warsi join Peter Morey, Professor of English and Postcolonial Studies at the University of London and co-author of Framing Muslims: Stereotyping and Representation after 9/11, to analyse the issues of trust affecting the Muslim community in the UK today.

The current rhetoric around immigration and the new anti-terror laws are seen by many as a thinly veiled attack on Muslims. Islamophobia and hate crimes are growing. How do all these factors affect the relationship Muslims have with the state and the rest of the UK population? Can Muslims trust the state and can the state trust Muslims?

Join the panellists for an informative debate on this important issue.
