Ricky Cool & The In Crowd
Ricky Cool has been fronting and performing in bands sine the mid 1970’s and is associated with some of the finest music to come out of the West Midlands. Since then Ricky Cool has fronted and played with a number of bands presenting American and Jamaican music in an authentic and entertaining way. He co-founded The Big Town Playboys, the band that nurtured the talent of Mike Sanchez. Ricky Cool and the Rialto’s became the nucleus of Robert Plant’s first Honeydrippers line up. In Ricky Cool and the Western Swing Allstars, Ricky worked alongside some of the finest musicians in London including B.J.Cole and Bobby Valentino. Ricky is regarded as one of the finest exponents of Blues and Country style harmonica in the UK and as such he still works with Mike Sanchez and also gigs with rising UK blues star Big Boy Bloater. He has played on recordings by Hank Wangford, Matchbox, Mike Sanchez and even toured with Billy Connolly as can be seen on his ‘Billy Connolly Bites Your Bum’ DVD. The Spikedrivers are one of the most original, innovative and exciting bands on the live music circuit. The bluesy combination of Ben Tyzack's sublime slide guitar, Constance Redgrave's deceptively simple bass lines, Maurice McElroy's precise drumming and percussion, along with their distinctive vocals and harmonies, creates a sound that is familiar yet different to anything you've ever heard before. Their roots are firmly in the Mississippi Delta, but their songwriting and arranging talents bring them right up to date. Their music has been described as 'haunting', 'gutsy', 'tribal' and even ‘psychedelic’. Spikedrivers are the new sound of transatlantic blues.

Bad Influence is described as a 'rock and blues' band and that is where they sit quite comfortably. However, this band has many musical influences and it shows in just about every song on the new CD. Val is often described as 'Bonnie Raitt gone raunchy' or 'powerful like Janis Joplin'. Richard squeezes every ounce of passion from the guitar, whilst Harry and Pete hold it very tightly together at the back. Originally formed in 1986, by Val Cowell (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), and Richard Hayes (lead and slide guitar).
