Hatch And Scratch
Pioneered by Battersea Arts Centre, 'scratching' is presenting new performance in development to an audience to receive feedback.
They've invited three of the dance companies we are supporting to present their work in progress:
Mischief Company's new work RED is a twisted adaption of Little Red Riding Hood, taking a raw look into the mysterious life of Red and her relationship with wolf, as told through the character of devil. Storytelling at its darkest and most intriguing - not for the faint-hearted!
Red Is comissioned by Pavilion Dance South West, with funding from Arts Council England, in partnership with and supported by University of Cumbria and Jasmin Vardimon Company.
James Finnermore's Bloom (extract) is loosely based on the South Reach trilogy. Jeff VanderMeer's 'mycological masterpiece'. It explores human beings' fear of the unknown and examines how two individuals communicate with each other amid a constantly changing physcial landscape.
James Finnemore is an associate artist at The Point.
Felicity Kerr's abstract work explores J.S. Bach's Fuge in C Minor from The Well-Tempered Clavichord through dance and discovers how muscial harmony can be translated into movement harmony. Featuring both music and dance created by herself, Felicity invites you to witness and explore the music and the dual language that emerges.
Created and developed with the support of PDSW Young Choreographers South West 2016.
Suitable for ages 16 and over.
