Improving Surgical Appliance Design: Showcasing Innovation from Bournemouth University's Students.

Working together with the Cardiac Intervention Unit (CIU) at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, undergraduate design engineering students have designed a left radial arm support to assist surgeons with performing angioplasty procedures.

The students’ solutions use novel methods, including 3D printing, 3D laser scanners and video capture, and are now being developed into working prototypes.

Students will be on hand to present their work, explain their designs and discuss how they can be used in practice.
