Can Machines Commit Crimes? Do Computers Have Legal Rights?

From the Google car and Amazon drones to interactive features on mobile phones - artificial intelligence and independent machines are no longer simply matters for science fiction. But the law has already struggled to address the risks and challenges posed by the internet and modern corporate behaviour.

This interactive presentation will ask whether technological developments will force people to modify concepts of legal personhood and how crime is regulated and defined.

Working collaboratively with law students and drawing on a range of films and concepts, this talk will explore the risks and the challenges for the criminal law in the 21st century.
