Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On Weekend: Madness + Little Roy + ReConnected + Nancy Langton
Irish rockers The Script have been forced to pull out of this year’s Blackpool Illuminations concert.
In a statement The Script’s management said: “It is with deepest regret that The Script have had to cancel both their LeedsAcademy (29th Aug) and the Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On concert (30th Aug) shows due to a sudden serious family illness. The band deeply regret having to cancel at such short notice and hope to see all their fans in the not so distant future.”
Natalie Wyatt, Managing Director of Marketing Blackpool, said: “We are deeply saddened that The Script have been forced to cancel their Blackpool Illuminations gig but we totally understand and appreciate that personal family matters take priority and our thoughts are with the band and their families at this time. We are currently working with artist management to secure a replacement act for Friday’s Switch-On and will announce this information as soon as we are able to. The weekend will still go ahead.”
Madness tickets are still available.
Full refunds are available to people who bought tickets for The Script. You must have proof of purchase and obtain the refund from the point of purchase.

Little Roy cut his first single at the legendary Studio One in 1965 and grew up in Kingston surrounded by many of Jamaican music's biggest hitters – Prince Buster, Lee Perry, Bunny Wailer & Peter Tosh. Later a growing interest in the emerging rasta religion saw him release some early roots classics such as 'Prophesy', 'Christopher Columbus', and 'Tribal War'.

ReConnected are made up of brothers Max and Harry Mondryk and friend Matt Fitzgerald, all of whom hail from Manchester. The boys formed under the name 'Connected' and hit our screens during Britain's Got Talent, together with two other members. After the show finished, the band went back to the original three-piece and after finding there was an American band by the name of Connected, they subsequently decided to change their name to ReConnected. The popular boys have already performed alongside stars including Westlife, Peter Andre and The Saturdays and the future is looking extremely bright for the trio.
