Montreal Born, Jersey Bred and Portland Based, the phenomenal Hip Hatchet is returning to Bishops Castle (calm yourself ladies), 18 months after we fell in love with him on Valentine's Day 2014.
Hip Hatchet, aka Philippe Bronchtein, is not only a superlative finger-style guitarist, he's also the owner of a rich mahogany voice that can meander from a whispering purr to a hardened howl.
Like the song-smiths before him, Bronchtein paints vivid pictures with his lyrics; honest, heart-felt, funny, introspective, and ultimately poetic. Likened to Leonard Cohen and Nick Drake, Bronchtein mixes stripped down humour with honest self criticism.
