Journey To The Centre Of The Earth: Rick Wakeman + The English Rock Ensemble + Jules Verne Symphony Orchestra and Choir + Roger Dean
2014 sees the 40th anniversary of the release of Rick Wakeman's landmark concept album, Journey To The Centre Of The Earth based on the novel by Jules Verne.
Rick Wakeman and The Jules Verne Symphony Orchestra will celebrate this anniversary with a state of the art, dramatic, live arena presentation of this epochal, classical-rock crossover work touring the world.
This event takes place at Arena Birmingham, which has achieved Bronze Status for disabled access from Attitude Is Everything.
Classically trained pianist, Rick dropped out from the Royal College of Music to forge a career in music. He recorded 'Space Oddity' with David Bowie at the start of a career as a session musician in which he has played over 2000 different songs. A member of The Strawbs, he left to join rock supergroup Yes in 1971 - an association he has maintained irregularly over the subsequent years.
Rick has also recorded a number of highly successful solo albums, and has forged a side career as a professional raconteur; most recently as MC for Jongleurs comedy club. Rick's live shows range from rock to classical, from new age and new world music to incredibly funny storytelling.

Roger Dean has spent a lifetime in the entertainment business as a singer, actor and cruise director. He made his television debut at the age of 14 and his first radio appearance soon after singing a Johnny Cash song. On the subject of Cash, he knows the score! Like Johnny Cash, he is gifted with a storyteller's voice. Who better to pay tribute to this great artist and to celebrate the legacy of the fabulous Johnny Cash?
'To be entertained by Roger Dean... was indeed a privilege. He has captured
the spirit of the man and his music. Our memories of Johnny cash are in safe hands' (Wulfren Hall, Wolverhampton)
'Tenderness and fun, style and verve... And oh, what songs!' (The Financial Times).
