Experiential Dance

An absorbing, unusual piece of dance/theatre/film that has been engaging audiences around the UK. Bridging The Void is choreographed by Rachel and performed by three dancers to an original score by composer James Welland and filmed sequences of sunrises by cameraman Jonathan Binks.

At the heart of Bridging the Void from Experiential Dance is a stunning cinematic film of sunrise presented in real time. While the audience watches light gradually spilling over the horizon three dancers weave around them, their movements changing from stiff, angular stuttering to grand luxurious gliding as the sun warms their limbs.

The music captures the delicate shifts in lighting, climaxing at a fiery drum section like the ferocious energy of the sun, pulsing through the dancers and extending into their movement.
