Birmingham Comedy Festival - Kill For A Seat: Benny Boot, Nick Page, Silky
Birmingham Comedy Festival is an annual city?wide event. Volunteer led, the festival made its debut in 2001, and quickly established itself as one of the city’s most popular events. In 2011, 50,000 people attended the festival.
A list of those who’ve appeared at previous festivals reads like a who’s?who of contemporary comedy, and includes Michael McIntyre, Lee Evans, Peter Kaye, Lenny Henry, Jimmy Carr, Alan Carr, Tim Minchin, The Fast Show, Stephen Merchant and Frankie Boyle. Alongside the TV names are an equally long list of local names, including Ted Chippington, Mrs Barbara Nice, Jo Enright, James Cook, Karen Bayley and others.
Please note that the artists appearing may be subject to change.
Benny Boot has been performing on the UK stand-up comedy circuit for 6 years. He is considered by many comedians as a wonderful stand-up artist to watch. Boot delivers his jokes in a unique style on a variety of strange topics. His engaging persona and material keeps the laughter rolling through the entire show and is guaranteed to bring any audience undone.
'He's got a keen instinct for the joke, an imaginative turn of phrase and an ability to find an offbeat angle to whatever he chooses to talk about' (Chortle)
'... an arsenal of consistently brilliant gags' (The Guardian).
Benny Boot tour dates
One of the UK's fastest rising comedy stars, going from open mic slots to becoming a professional in just 6 months. His style is laconic, like the lovechild of Julian Clary and Jeremy Clarkson, and his material draws on his previous modes of employment: bouncer, car dealer, estate agent.
A brilliant storyteller, who draws the audience into his bizarre, imaginary, exaggerated universe. He was a finalist at the 2002 BBC New Comedy Awards.
'The very best story teller on the comedy circuit' (Rhod Gilbert).
Nick Page tour dates
Runner up for just about every award going, including BBC New Comedy Award, and organiser of Kill For A Seat comedy nights.
'Equally at home as a compere or main act, Silky has consistently proved himself one of the best and most reliable performers around. Highly recommended' (Leeds Guide)
'Considered and clever: excellent timing and dry delivery revealed a comic at the top of his game' (352 Magazine Luxembourg)
'Always brilliant’ (Metro)
'... a very, very funny fella... just brilliant' (John Bishop)
'... Silky whose irresistible stage persona combines angriness with silliness. He has a mastery of the descriptive phrase and his mix of self-deprecating wit, music and gently quirky material brings audiences together in tears of laughter (Funhouse Comedy).
