The Lady Meets The Songbird - Echoes Of Voices Stilled Too Early

The Julie July Band returns to celebrate the music of two talented female artists, sadly lost to us at an early age.

American-born Eva Cassidy is remembered for her stunning interpretations and arrangements of a wide variety of songs, including 'Over the Rainbow', 'Fields of Gold' and 'Songbird'. Critics agree she possessed one of the finest voices of her generation, and her haunting versions of classic tunes displayed her gift of phrasing that was, at times, heart-stoppingly eloquent.

Sandy Denny, the pre-eminent British folk-rock singer/songwriter, left a legacy of enchanting compositions that she performed not only with The Strawbs, Fairport Convention and Fotheringay, but also as a solo artist. Her best-known song, 'Who Knows Where The Time Goes', has been voted 'Favourite Folk Track Of All Time' by BBC Radio 2 listeners.
