The Legacy Of Guano

Dr Frank Uekotter, Reader in Environmental Humanities, University of Birmingham, and Jonathan Watkins, Ikon Director, discuss the historical context for Ikon’s exhibition by artist Dinh Q. Lê. The subject of Lê’s new work, The Colony, is a cluster of islands off the coast of Peru, rich in guano, a powerful fertilizer and the setting for a brutal period of history. Organised in collaboration with the University of Birmingham as part of the Arts and Science Festival 2016 (14-20 March).

Booking essential.
