Aegon Classic

A WTA International Series event, the Aegon Classic, is the year’s first opportunity to see the top tennis players from the women’s game on grass. Held at Edgbaston Priory Club, Birmingham, (where the modern game of lawn tennis is believed to have started as early as 1859), and now in its 35th year, this family friendly occasion is considered one of the top events of the tennis calendar.

Featuring a strong international field, the Aegon Classic is an important fixture on the women’s tour. In the tournament's 32-year history, it's seen many great champions, including Martina Navratilova, Billie Jean King and the first-ever Chinese player to win a Grand Slam title, Na Li, the 2010 champion.

The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has confirmed that both world No.3 Simona Halep and reigning champion, Ana Ivanovic will play at this year’s competition.

The seven day event will include feature days such as a Charity Day to raise money for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and a glamorous Ladies Day. There will also be a variety of entertainment, a tournament village which will include a retail marquee offering a great selection of tennis products and gifts plus a BBQ marquee, autograph area and a Mo?t & Chandon Champagne Bar.
