A Christmas Carol : Clive Francis
In December 1853 Dickens chose A Christmas Carol for his first ever public reading in Town Hall, where ‘notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather, nearly 2,000 persons had assembled.’
In celebration of Dickens’ bicentennial, Clive Francis recreates the occasion, bringing to life his most famous characters. The first half features a delightful introduction by Francis who will explain more about that first reading at Town Hall and Dickens’ exploits in Birmingham.
Since making his debut on the London stage opposite Donald Sinden in There's A Girl In My Soup, Clive Francis has performed in over 20 West End productions including many roles for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
His many film and television credits include, Casualty, The Queen, New Tricks, Rosemary And Thyme, Poldark, Pierrepoint and A Clockwork Orange.
His four published books include Laugh Lines and Sir John: The Many Faces of Gielgud, and his stage adaptations include Our Man In Havana and The Hound Of The Baskervilles.
