The Marschallin comes to terms with the onward passage of time as her young lover falls for another. Richard Strauss’ sumptuous opera offers comedy and poignant drama in equal measure.
Any production of Der Rosenkavalier is an occasion. WNO haven’t performed it for over 15 years and can’t wait to get working on this touching and beautiful comedy-drama. Their excitement is heightened by the fact that this production will see Rebecca Evans’ debut in the iconic role of the Marschallin.
