Judith Owen singer-songwriter and pianist is currently riding the wave of a tremendous couple of years – recently capped off with ‘redisCOVERed” with two consecutive albums making “The Top 100 Album” in The Times Culture section 201 plus 5 Star live reviews from a recent sold out Ronnie Scott’s London show.
“The singer-pianist shuffled the jukebox in a set of daring cover versions in which she revealed unexpected depths…a stunning evening” - Clive Davis, The Times
“Sensationally good re-workings of songs. Judith reveals the depths that Drake and Ed Sheeran never knew they had, revisits the beauty of Joni Mitchell and does Deep Purple as you have never known before. Extraordinary, frankly: must see, and hear.” - Mark Beech (author of “All You Need is Rock”)”
“An artist, who's hard to classify, but impossible not to love” - Andy Rawll, Record Collector
Her live performances, whether as a headliner or as the handpicked opening act for Bryan Ferry’s recent tours of Europe and North America, have been wowing listeners and gaining fans including fellow artist Jackson Browne, who said of Owen’s onstage prowess: “It’s a masterclass on how a show should be done.”
Welsh songstress and pianist Judith Owen is known for her love of musical variety and melding it into a great stylistic gumbo all her own. Her songs contain universal themes of love, loss, family, humanity, optimism and frustration. With many moods and shades within her own material and her unique cover versions given a contemporary twist, Judith Owen seems well on her way into the Premier League of contemporary singer-songwriters.
